The body control module (BCM) controls the washer motor based on an input from the windshield wiper washer switch. The BCM monitors the washer switch through the windshield washer switch signal circuit. When the WASH switch is closed, ground is supplied to the windshield washer switch signal circuit. When this is seen, the BCM will command the windshield washer fluid pump and the low speed wipers on.

Wiper/Washer System Description and Operation
⇒ | If the parameter does not cycle between the specified values, refer to Windshield Wiper Switch Circuit Malfunction. |
⇒ | If the washer pump does not activate, refer to Washer Pump Circuit Malfunction. |
⇒ | If the low speed wipers do not turn on, refer to Windshield Wiper System Malfunction . |
⇒ | If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit test normal, replace the BCM. |
⇒ | If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal B for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM. |
⇒ | If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM. |
⇒ | If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM. |
⇒ | If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM. |
⇒ | If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance. |
⇒ | If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the underhood fuse block. |
⇒ | If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the underhood fuse block. |
⇒ | If not the specified value, replace the windshield wiper washer switch. |
⇒ | If greater than the specified range, replace the windshield wiper washer switch. |
⇒ | If the washer pump does not activate , replace the washer pump. |

The rear washer is controlled based on an input from the rear wiper/washer switch. When the wiper portion of the rear wiper/washer switch is closed, a ground signal is provided to the RR WASH PCB relay indicating rear washer operation is requested. With ground provided to the RR WASH PCB relay coil, the relay is energized and B+ is supplied to the washer pump.
