Caution: Using the third row seating position while the second row is folded, or folded and tumbled, could cause injury in a sudden stop or crash. Be sure to return the seat to the passenger seating position. Push and pull on the seat to make sure it is locked into place.

On vehicles with a third row seat, the seatback can be folded.

Folding the Seatback

To fold the seatback:

  1. Remove all items on the seat cushion.
  2. Remove and store the head rests. See Head Restraints .
  3. Notice: Folding a rear seat with the safety belts still fastened may cause damage to the seat or the safety belts. Always unbuckle the safety belts and return them to their normal stowed position before folding a rear seat.

  4. Fully lift the lever located on the top of the seatback to release it.
  5. Fold the seatback forward.

Returning the Seatback to the Upright Position

To return the seatback to the upright position:

  1. Open the liftgate to access the pullstrap for the seat.
  2. Use the pullstrap on the seatback to pull the seatback up until it locks into the upright position.
  3. Caution: If either seatback is not locked, it could move forward in a sudden stop or crash. That could cause injury to the person sitting there. Always push and pull on the seatbacks to be sure they are locked.

  4. Push and pull on the seatback to make sure it is locked.
