Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1644827 Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  3. Remove the front catalytic convertor. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement - Left Side .
  4. Remove the starter solenoid BAT terminal nut.

    5. Object Number: 1394041 Size: SH
  5. Disconnect the engine harness electrical connector.

    6. Object Number: 1394040 Size: SH
  6. Remove the starter bolts and starter.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1394040 Size: SH
  1. Position the starter motor in the engine block.

    2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  2. Install the starter bolts.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  3. Connect the engine harness electrical connector to the starter.

    4. Object Number: 1644827 Size: SH
  4. Install the starter solenoid BAT terminal nut.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  5. Install the front catalytic convertor. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement - Left Side .
  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
