  1. Right Park Lamp Inoperative
  2. Right Park Lamp Always On

Circuit/System Description

Voltage is applied at all times to the Park Lamp Relay from battery voltage. When the headlamp switch is placed in the PARK position, ground is applied through the park lamp switch signal circuit to the body control module (BCM) . The BCM then applies a ground to the park lamp relay control circuit. This engages the relay and applies voltage through the park lamp fuses and to all the park lamps.

Conditions for Running the DTC

The ignition is ON. Park lamps must be ON and the park lamps must be commanded ON.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The BCM detects a short to voltage on the right park lamp control circuit while trying to apply a ground to the circuit.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The right park lamp does not illuminate.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

The BCM clears this code from current when the fault is removed from the system.

Circuit/System Verification

Ignition ON, turn the park lamps ON. The park lamps should illuminate.

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the park lamp harness connector at the BEC.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the control circuit C2 terminal 8 and B+.
  3. Command the fog lamps ON and OFF with a scan tool. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF when changing between the commanded states.
  4. If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
  5. Ignition OFF, connect the right park lamp harness connector at the BEC. Disconnect the harness connector at both park lamps.
  6. Test for less than 1.0 ohm of resistance between the appropriate park lamp ground circuit terminal 3 and ground.
  7. If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  8. Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 1 or 2 and ground.
  9. Command the park lamps ON and OFF with a scan tool. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF when changing between the commanded states.
  10. If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BEC.
If the test lamp is always OFF and the circuit fuse is good, test the control circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the BEC.
If the test lamp is always OFF and the circuit fuse is open, test the control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the appropriate park lamp bulb socket.
  11. If all circuits test normal, replace the appropriate park lamp bulb socket.
