Diagnostic Instructions
DTC Descriptor
DTC C0292: VSES Combination Sensor Circuits
Circuit/System Description
The electronic brake control module (EBCM) supplies an ignition voltage to the yaw rate sensor lateral accelerometer and is monitored via an internal feedback circuit to the EBCM microprocessor.
Conditions for Running the DTC
• | Ignition voltage is greater than 9.5 volts. |
Conditions for Setting the DTC
The yaw/lateral sensor is setting an internal electronic failure.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
• | Vehicle stability enhancement system (VSES) is disabled. |
• | The VSES indicator illuminates. |
• | The driver information center (DIC) displays the Service ESC message. |
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
• | The condition for setting the DTC is no longer present. |
• | The EBCM automatically clears the history DTC when a current DTC is not detected in 100 consecutive drive cycles. |

Circuit/System Testing
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the Yaw Rate/Lateral Accelerometer sensor.
- Test for less than 1 ohm of resistance between the low reference circuit terminal 5 and ground.
⇒ | If greater than the specified range, test for an open/high resistance in the low reference circuit. If the circuit tests normal, replace the EBCM. |
- Ignition ON, test for ignition voltage between the ignition circuit terminal 3 and the low reference circuit terminal 5.
⇒ | If not the specified value, test the ignition circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the EBCM. |
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the EBCM.
- Test for infinite resistance between the low reference circuit terminal 29 and ground.
⇒ | If greater than the specified value, test the low reference circuit for a short to ground. |
- If all circuits test normal, replace the Yaw Rate/Lateral sensor.
