Special Tools

1. Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement .
2. Pull each end of the hood rear seal away from the cowl panel flange near both strut towers.
3. Install three J-28467-13 adapters  (1) and two J-28467-5 strut tower adapters  (2) to the top of the left and right strut tower.
4. Install a 127 cm (50 in) engine support fixture cross bar J-28467-B support fixture  (3) transversely across the vehicle between both J-28467-5 strut tower adapters  (2).
5. Insert J-28467-10 safety pins  (4) through the J-28467-5 strut tower adapters  (2) and the cross bar (3) to prevent movement.



6. Install the engine support bracket J-42451-1 adapter to the engine.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.




7. Remove the alternator bolt (1), then install the alternator bolt with the engine support bracket J 42451-1 to the engine and tighten to 50 N·m (37 lb ft) .



8. Position two 58 cm (23 in) engine support fixture cross bars (1) longitudinally with two J-36462-A set  (2).
9. Install two J-28467-1A  clamp (3) to secure the longitudinal mounted cross bar to the transverse mounted cross bar.



10. Assemble the J-28467-34 lift hook wing nut and J-8467-6A lift hook bracket to the J-28467-A lift hook .



11. Install the lift hook and bracket assembly (1) to the longitudinal mounted cross bar (2).



12. Position the J-8467-7A lift hook to the rear engine J-42451-1 lift bracket  (2).



13. Assemble the J-28467-34 lift hook wing nut and J-28467-6A the lift hook bracket to the J-28467-A lift hook .



14. Install the lift hook and bracket assembly (1) to the longitudinal mounted cross bar (2).



15. Position the J-28467-7A bolt hook  (1) to the front engine J-42451-1 lift bracket  (2).



16. Evenly tighten both J-28467-34 wing nut  (1) until the engine weight is supported by the engine support fixture and no longer carried by the engine mounts.
