J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
  2. Remove the front bumper fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement.

  3. Object Number: 1654733  Size: SH
  4. Remove the bolt retaining the receiver dehydrator mounting clamp to the condenser.
  5. Remove the receiver dehydrator mounting clamp from the condenser.

  6. Object Number: 1654734  Size: SH
  7. Remove the lower receiver dehydrator bolt from the condenser.

  8. Object Number: 1654735  Size: SH
  9. Remove the receiver dehydrator from the condenser.
  10. Install protective caps to the condenser to prevent contamination and desiccant saturation.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1654735  Size: SH
  1. Remove the protective caps from the condenser.
  2. Add the specified amount of polyalkylene glycol (PAG) oil to the receiver dehydrator. Refer to Refrigerant System Capacities.
  3. Install new O-rings to the receiver dehydrator. Refer to O-Ring Replacement.
  4. Install the receiver dehydrator to the condenser.
  5. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1654734  Size: SH
  6. Install the lower receiver dehydrator bolt to the condenser.
  7. Tighten the bolt to 6.5 N·m (58 lb in).

  8. Install the receiver dehydrator mounting clamp to the condenser.
  9. Install the receiver dehydrator mounting clamp bolt to the condenser.
  10. Tighten the bolt to 4.2 N·m (37 lb in).

  11. Install the front bumper fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement.
  12. Evacuate and charge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
  13. Test the affected A/C joints for leaks using J 39400-A .
