DTC Descriptors

DTC B1024 00: Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Temperature Sensor Fault

Circuit/System Description

When the "Service Error/Contact Dealer" indicator illuminates in the DIC, it indicates a fault in the instrument panel cluster (IPC). The "Service Error/Contact Dealer" indicator is displayed until you press the TRIP/RESET switch. The indicator symbol then reverts to the original trip computer display.

"X Service" appears at the bottom of the DIC and remains illuminated until the problem has been rectified.

Conditions for Running DTC

    • System voltage is between 9-16 volts.
    • Ignition switch is in the ON position.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

    • The instrument panel cluster (IPC) operating temperature is below  40 °C or above  85°C
    • The IPC has a shorted or open circuit.
    • The IPC internal temperature has exceeded the specified operating range.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The IPC shuts down or fails to display the correct information.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • The DTC becomes history when the condition for setting the DTC is no longer present.
    • The history DTC clears after 40 malfunction-free warm-up cycles.

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition ON, with the scan tool, verify that DTC B1024 is not set.
  2. If DTC B1024 is set as current, attempt to re-calibrate the IPC.
  3. Clear all DTCs using the scan tool, verify that DTC B1024 does not reset.
  4. If the DTC B1024 is set as current, replace the IPC.
