Rear Quarter Trim Panel Replacement coupe

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 528767  Size: MH

    Important: The illustration shows the right rear door of an Oldsmobile coupe. The left rear door, and all rear doors of the Pontiac and the Buick coupes are similar.

  1. Remove the rear seatback and the rear seat cushion. Refer to the following procedures in Seats:
  2. •  Rear Seat Back Replacement
    •  Rear Split Folding Seat Back Replacement
    •  Rear Seat Cushion Replacement
  3. Remove the carpet retainer. Refer to Carpet Retainer Replacement .
  4. Remove the windshield side upper garnish molding. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Upper .
  5. Remove the quarter trim panel screw (2).
  6. Remove the quarter trim panel (1) by grasping the panel and pulling inboard. This will disengage the fasteners (3) from the retainers (4).
  7. Remove the seatbelt from the slit in the quarter trim panel.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the seatbelt through the slit in the quarter trim panel (1).
  2. Install the quarter trim panel by aligning the fasteners (3) to the retainers (4). Apply sufficient pressure to the panel in order to fully seat the fasteners.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the quarter trim panel screw (2).
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the screw to 1.5 N·m (13.2 lb in).

  6. Install the windshield side upper molding by starting at the rear top of the body lock pillar. Engage the tabs on the molding to the clips on the body. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Upper .
  7. Install the carpet retainer. Refer to Carpet Retainer Replacement .
  8. Install the rear seat cushion and the rear seatback. Refer to the following procedures in Seats:
