Removal Procedure

  1. Place a protective covering over the adjacent body panels.
  2. Disconnect all of the electrical connectors from the components that are attached to the rear compartment lid.
  3. Tie a string to the wire harness assembly and pull the wire harness assembly out of the lid. Allow an ample amount of string in order feed the wire harness back through the lid.
  4. Remove the lock release cable. Refer to Fuel Tank Filler Door Latch Release Cable Replacement .

  5. Object Number: 384496  Size: SH
  6. Have a helper support the rear compartment lid while you remove the bolts (1) that retain the lid to the hinge.
  7. Remove the lid.

Installation Procedure

  1. With the aid of a helper, position the rear compartment lid to the hinges.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the bolts (1) that retain the lid to the hinges.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  5. Adjust the lid as needed.
  6. Tie the harness to the string in the lid. Pull the string through the lid until the harness is within the lid.
  7. Attach the wire connectors to the electrical components.
  8. Install the lock release cable. Refer to Fuel Tank Filler Door Latch Release Cable Replacement .
