Brake Warning Indicator Inoperative W/Park Brake Set

Was the Brake Warning System Check performed?

  1. Disconnect the park brake indicator switch connector.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  3. Connect a fused jumper between the park brake indicator switch connector and ground.

Does the brake indicator lamp illuminate?

--

Go to Step  5

  1. Disconnect the brake fluid minimum capacity sensor connector.
  2. Connect a fused jumper between the brake fluid minimum capacity sensor connector terminal B and a known good ground.

Does the brake indicator lamp illuminate?

--

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 6

  1. Locate an open or a high resistance in CKT XM2.
  2. Repair the open or the high resistance in CKT XM2.

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to Step 8

Replace the park brake indicator switch. Refer to Parking Brake Indicator Switch Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 8

  1. Replace the brake indicator lamp.
  2. Reconnect all of the connectors and the components that were disconnected.
  3. Engage the park brake.

Does the brake indicator lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 8

  1. Locate an open or a high resistance in CKT XA3.
  2. Repair the open or the high resistance in CKT XA3.
  3. If the circuit is OK, replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Connect all connectors and components that were disconnected.
  2. Verify that the brake indicator lamp illuminates properly.

  1. Disconnect the brake fluid minimum capacity sensor connector.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  3. Connect a fused jumper between terminal A and terminal B of the brake fluid minimum capacity sensor connector.

Does the brake indicator lamp illuminate?

  1. Locate an open or a high resistance in CKT XA2 or CKT F23.
  2. Repair the open or the high resistance in CKT XA2 or CKT F23.

Is the repair complete?

Replace the master cylinder reservoir cap.

Is the replacement complete?

  1. Reconnect all of the connectors and the components that were disconnected.
  2. Verify that the brake indicator lamp illuminates properly.
