Removal Procedure
Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing
any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to
the vehicle or its components.
- Disconnect
the negative battery cable.
- Place a drain pan under the power steering fluid reservoir and
gear.
- Siphon the fluid from the reservoir to prevent excessive spillage.
- Remove the front fascia. Refer to
Front Bumper Fascia Replacement
in Bumpers.
- Remove the cooling pipe
retaining clips (1) from the crossmember and from in the engine compartment
(3).
- Remove the power steering fluid gear outlet hose at the reservoir.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Reposition the Electronic Brake Traction Control Module/Brake
Pressure Modulator Valve (EBTCM) assembly to access the power steering fluid
cooling pipe connections. Opening of the brake hydraulic system and removal
of the EBTCM assembly is not necessary to reposition. Refer to

- Lower the vehicle.
- Remove the power steering fluid cooling pipe.
Installation Procedure
- Install the power steering fluid cooling pipe.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Position the Electronic Brake Traction Control Module/Brake Pressure
Modulator Valve (EBTCM/BPMV) assembly. Refer to
Electronic Brake and Traction Control Module Replacement
in ABS Brakes.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the power steering fluid gear outlet hose at the reservoir.
- Install the cooling pipe
retaining clips to the crossmember (1) and in the engine compartment (3).
- Install the front fascia. Refer to
Front Bumper Fascia Replacement
in Bumpers.
- Reconnect the negative battery cable.
- Reprogram applicable accessories. Refer to
Reprogramming Accessories After Battery Disconnect
in
Engine Electrical.
- Bleed the power steering system. Refer to
Power Steering System Bleeding
.
