Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 168321  Size: SH
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
  2. Remove the steering column from vehicle. Refer to Steering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.
  3. Remove the screws from the left front assist handle.
  4. Remove the left front assist handle.
  5. Remove the screws from the right front assist handle.
  6. Remove the right front assist handle.
  7. Remove the windshield pillar moldings. Refer to Windshield Garnish Molding Replacement in Stationary Glass.

  9. Remove the access panel from the passenger side instrument panel (IP).

  10. Object Number: 153467  Size: SH
  11. Remove the outlet screw from the passenger side air deflector.

  12. Object Number: 153472  Size: SH
  13. Remove the passenger side air deflector outlet.

  14. Object Number: 153292  Size: SH
  15. Remove the passenger side air outlet duct.
  16. Remove the IP inflatable restraint module cover. Refer to SIR Module Cover Replacement in SIR.
  17. Remove the IP compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement .
  18. Remove the passenger side SIR module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement in SIR.
  19. Remove the upper center console. Refer to Console Replacement - Upper .
  20. Remove the lower center console. Refer to Console Replacement - Lower .
  21. Remove the screw from the center console air duct.
  22. Remove the center console air duct.
  23. Remove the bezel from the radio tape player. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement .
  24. Remove the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment.
  25. Remove the climate control head. Refer to Control Assembly Replacement in HVAC.

  27. Remove the center air outlet deflector.

  29. Remove the outlet screws from the center air deflector.
  30. Remove the outlet housing from the center air deflector.

  33. Remove the driver side air outlet deflector.

  35. Remove the outlet screw from the driver side air deflector.
  36. Remove the outlet housing from the driver side air deflector.
  37. Remove the driver side lower outlet duct.
  38. Remove the headlamp switch. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  39. Remove the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
  40. Remove the fuse and relay panels screws.
  41. Remove the fuse and relay panels from the IP.

  43. Remove the bracket nut from the steering column support.

  44. Object Number: 309500  Size: SH
  45. Remove the bracket bolt from the steering column support.

  46. Object Number: 309490  Size: SH
  47. Remove the left side IP carrier bolts.

  48. Object Number: 309496  Size: SH
  49. Remove the right side IP carrier bolts.
  50. Remove the ambient light sensor. Refer to Sun Load Sensor Replacement in HVAC System.
  51. Important: Do NOT remove the wiring harness with the carrier.

  52. Remove the wiring harness connectors from the IP carrier (headlamp switch, instrument cluster, and sun load sensor).
  53. Remove the wiring harness clips from the IP carrier.
  54. Remove the IP carrier.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 309490  Size: SH
  1. Install the IP carrier into the mounting position.
  2. Install the wiring harness clips to the IP carrier.
  3. Install the wiring harness connectors to the IP carrier (headlamp switch, instrument cluster, and sun load sensor).
  4. Install the ambient light sensor. Refer to Sun Load Sensor Replacement in HVAC System.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the left side IP carrier bolts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the instrument panel carrier bolts to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).

  8. Install the right side IP carrier bolts.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the instrument panel carrier bolts to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).

  10. Install the bracket bolt to the steering column support.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the bracket bolt until fully seated but not stripped.

  12. Install the bracket nut to the steering column support.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the bracket nut until fully seated but not stripped.

  14. Install the fuse and the relay panels to IP.
  15. Install the fuse and the relay panel screws.
  16. Tighten
    Tighten the fuse and relay panel screws until fully seated but not stripped.

  17. Install the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
  18. Install the headlamp switch. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement in Lighting System.
  19. Install the driver side lower outlet duct.
  20. Install the outlet housing to the driver side air deflector.
  21. Install the outlet screw to the driver side air deflector.

  24. Install the driver side access panel.

  26. Install the outlet housing to the center air deflector.
  27. Install the outlet screws to the center air deflector.

  32. Install the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment.

  34. Install the center console air duct.
  35. Install the screw to the center console air duct.
  36. Install the lower center console. Refer to Console Replacement - Lower .
  37. Install the upper center console. Refer to Console Replacement - Upper .
  38. Install the passenger side SIR module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement in SIR.
  39. Install the IP compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement
  40. Install the IP inflatable restraint module cover. Refer to SIR Module Cover Replacement
  41. Install the passenger side air outlet duct.

  45. Install the outlet screw to the passenger side air deflector.

  50. Install the right front assist handle.
  51. Install the screws to the right front assist handle.
  52. Install the left front assist handle.
  53. Install the screws to the left front assist handle.
  54. Install the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.
  55. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
  56. Reprogram the accessories. Refer to Reprogramming Accessories After Battery Disconnect in Engine Electrical.
