Door Window Guide Replacement Eldorado

1. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Door Trim Panel Replacement .
2. Remove the water deflector. Refer to Door Water Deflector Replacement .
3. Remove the inner belt sealing strip. Refer to Inner Belt Sealing Strip Replacement .
4. Loosen the rear wedge in order to allow the wedge to drop.
5. Remove the window guide blocks.
6. Position the window in order to access the 3 window sash to regulator bolts.
7. Using the aid of an assistant, perform the following steps:

7.1.	Hold the window (1).

7.2.	Remove the 3 window sash to regulator bolts.

8. Remove the window from the door.
9. Remove both of the window run channels from the door. Refer to Window Channel Replacement .

1. Place the following components on the bench:

1.1.	The window

1.2.	The run channels

2. Place the guide blocks on the window.

Secure the blocks loosely using guide bolts.

3. Place the run channels fully into the guide blocks.
4. Adjust the guide block (4) parallel to the run channel (1). Ensure that the gap is 12 mm (0.5 in) between the edge of the window and the run channel.
5. Set the guide block (4) to the alignment mark (3) on the guide block retainer.
6. Tighten the guide blocks.
7. Remove the following components in order to access the bevel adjusters:

•	The door lower molding

•	The adjuster access plugs

•	Refer to Door Window Adjustment .

8. Set the front bevel adjustment at midpoint.
9. Determine the midpoint by performing the one of the following actions:

•	Turn the adjuster approximately 12 full revolutions from the full inward travel stop.

•	Turn the adjuster approximately 12 full revolutions from the full outward travel stop.

10. Set the rear adjuster full inboard to the end of travel (tips the door glass inboard).
11. Leave the following components off the assembly:

•	The molding

•	The adjuster access plugs

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

Important: Visually inspect the window position to the mirror mucket. Ensure that the mucket overlaps the window a minimum of 3 mm (0.125 in).

12. With the window in the full up position, perform the following steps:

12.1.

Raise the rear wedge until the wedge contacts the rear edge of the window.

12.2.

Tighten the wedge attachment screw.

12.3.

Use a thin-bladed screwdriver in the adjustment slot in order to prevent the wedge from rotating when tightening the wedge.

Tighten
Tighten the screw to 3 N·m (27 lb in).

1. Install the inner belt sealing strip. Refer to Inner Belt Sealing Strip Replacement



2. Install the water deflector. Refer to Door Water Deflector Replacement .
3. Install the trim panel. Refer to Door Trim Panel Replacement .
4. Perform the blow out clip entrapment test:

4.1.	Start the engine

4.2.	Set the climate control to maximum heat.

4.3.	Turn the blower fan to HIGH.

4.4.	Open the A/C vents.

4.5.	Close the door windows.

4.6.	Exit the vehicle.

4.7.	Wait for one minute.

4.8.	Open and slam the door several times.

4.9.	Verify that the door window (1) remains inboard of the blow out clip.

4.10.

From the inside of the vehicle, cycle the door window up and down.

4.11.

Slam the door several times.

4.12.

Verify that the door window remains inboard of the blow out clip.

5. Perform the water and windnoise test. Refer to Air/Wind Noise in Air/Wind Noise.

J 38814 Regulator Lift Arm Slider Installer

Caution: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:

Caution: In order to prevent SIR deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs, do not strike the door or the door pillar in the area of the side impact sensor (SIS). Turn OFF the ignition and remove the key when performing service in the area of the SIS.

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System .
2. Remove the trim panel. Refer to the following procedures:

•	Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement

•	Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement

3. Remove the water deflector. Refer to Door Water Deflector Replacement .
4. Remove the lock module. Refer to Door Lock Switch Replacement .
5. Drill out the old slider.

1. Use the J 38814 in order to position the new slider.
2. Install the lock module. Refer to Door Lock Switch Replacement .
3. Install the water deflector. Refer to Door Water Deflector Replacement .
4. Install the trim panel. Refer to the following procedures:

•	Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement

•	Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement
