Circuit Description

The battery positive voltage (B+) is applied at the memory mirror module (MMM) connector terminal E1 (ORN). The MMM tests the battery positive voltage (B+) in order to determine if the voltage is within a valid operating range.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

DTC MMM B1983 sets when the battery positive voltage (B+) falls below 9 V.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

For DTC MMM B1983, the MMM attempts to write the status of this DTC to the EEPROM. No other writes to the EEPROM occur while this DTC is current.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • DTC MMM B1983 clears when the battery positive voltage (B+) is greater than 9.5 V.
    • A history DTC will clear after 50 consecutive ignition cycles if the condition for the malfunction is no longer present.
    • Use the On-Board Clearing DTCs feature.
    • Use a scan tool.

Diagnostic Aids

    • These DTCs disable the setting of most of the other MMM DTCs.
    • DTC MMM B1982 may set when the vehicle is placed on a battery charger set to fast charge for a long period of time.

Test Description

The number(s) below refer to the step number(s) on the diagnostic table.

  1. Perform the Power Door Systems Diagnostic System Check.

  2. This step determines if the malfunction is in the charging system or the MMM.

  3. Clear all of the DTCs after the repair procedure is complete.
