Do the right turn signal lamps operate properly?

Go to Turn Signal Lamps Inoperative - Hazard Lamps Operate

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Move the turn signal lever to the right turn position.
  4. With the scan tool, observe the Right Turn Signal parameter in the instrument cluster (IPC) data list.

Does the scan tool indicate that the Right Turn Signal parameter is On?

Test the RH turn signal circuit for an open or high resistance between the instrument cluster (IPC) and the splice of the RH turn signal circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 8

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the instrument cluster (IPC). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. With a scan tool, perform the Display(s) Test in instrument cluster (IPC) Special Functions.
  4. Observe the right turn indicator on the instrument cluster (IPC) during the Display(s) Test.

Does the right turn indicator illuminate during the Display(s) Test?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 7

Replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
