Important: The following steps must be completed before using the symptom tables:

    • Perform Diagnostic System Check - Body Rear End before using the Symptom Tables in order to verify that all of the following are true:
       - There are no DTCs set.
       - The control module(s) can communicate via the serial data link.
    • Review the system operation in order to familiarize yourself with the system functions. Refer to:
       -  Body Rear End Description
       -  Fuel Filler Door Release Circuit Description
       -  Rear Compartment Lid Release Circuit Description
       -  Rear Window Inside Sunshade Operation Rear Window Inside Sunshade Circuit Description

Visual/Physical Inspection

    • Inspect for aftermarket devices which could affect operation of the rear compartment lid release system, and/or operation of the rear window power sunshade, and/or operation of the fuel filler door release system. Refer to Checking Aftermarket Accessories in Wiring Systems.
    • Inspect the easily accessible or visible system components for obvious damage or conditions which could cause the symptom.
    • Binding and/or sticking mechanical sunshade components can cause the actuator to use excessive current which may result in a failed circuit breaker and sunshade system failure.

Intermittent

Faulty electrical connections or wiring may be the cause of intermittent conditions. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems.

Refer to a symptom diagnostic procedure from the following list in order to diagnose the symptom:

    •  Fuel Filler Door Release Inoperative
    •  Rear Compartment Lid Release Inoperative
    •  Rear Window Inside Sunshade Inoperative
    •  TRUNK OPEN Message Always On
    •  TRUNK OPEN Message Inoperative
