Was the entire Automatic Day/Night Mirrors System Check performed?

Go to Automatic Day-Night Mirrors System Check

1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
2. Place the gear selector lever in the REVERSE position.

Did the backup lights turn on?

--

Go to Step 3

Go to Step 6

1. Disconnect the automatic day/night mirror connector.
2. Connect a DMM from the automatic day/night mirror connector cavity 3 (LT GRN) to ground.

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10-15 V

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 11

1. Reconnect the automatic day/night mirror connector.
2. Backprobe the automatic day/night mirror connector witha DMM from cavity 4 (GRY/BLK) to ground.

Important:: A short to battery positive voltage (B+) in CKT 1690 (GRY/BLK) will cause damage in the automatic day/night mirror and the LH outside mirror.

Is the voltage greater than the specified value?

1.3 V

Go to Step 12

Go to Step 5

Replace the automatic day/night mirror. Refer to Inside Rearview Mirror Replacement .

Is the automatic day/night mirror replacement complete?

Go to Automatic Day-Night Mirrors System Check

1. Backprobe the rear junction block connector C1 with a DMM from battery positive voltage (B+) to cavity B7 (DK GRN).
2. Place the gear selector lever in the REVERSE position.

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10-15 V

Go to Step 9

Go to Step 7

1. Remove the REVERSE relay from the rear junction block.
2. Backprobe the rear junction block connector C1 with a DMM from cavity B7 (DK GRN) to the rear integration module (RIM) connector C1 cavity A8 (DK GRN).

Is the resistance less than the specified value?

5 ohms

Go to Step 8

Replace the rear integration module (RIM). Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

Is the RIM replacement complete?

Go to Automatic Day-Night Mirrors System Check

Replace the REVERSE relay in the rear junction block.

Is the REVERSE relay replacement complete?

Go to Automatic Day-Night Mirrors System Check

Repair the open in CKT 646 (LT GRN) between the rear junction block and the rear integration module (RIM). Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the circuit repair complete?

Go to Automatic Day-Night Mirrors System Check

Repair the open in CKT 24 (LT GRN) between the rear junction block and the automatic day/night mirror. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the circuit repair complete?

Go to Automatic Day-Night Mirrors System Check

Repair the short circuit in CKT 1690 (GRY/BLK). Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
