Removal Procedure
- Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Door Trim Panel Replacement
- Remove the water deflector. Refer to Front Side Door Water Deflector Replacement
- Remove the rear door stationary window. Refer to Rear Side Door Window Replacement
- Disconnect the electrical connectors (2).
- Disconnect the door handle rod (1) from the door latch.
- Remove the lock knob.
- Remove the lock rod bell crank from the door.
- Remove the three fasteners (3) from the door latch.
- Remove the door latch (2) from the door.
Installation Procedure
- Install the door latch (2) into the door.
- Install the three fasteners (3).
- Snap the lock rod bell crank into the door.
- Install the lock knob.
- Push up on the handle rod to remove play and install the door handle rod (1) into the door latch connector.
- Install the electrical connectors (1).
- Install the rear door stationary window. Refer to Rear Side Door Window Replacement
- Install the water deflector. Refer to Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement
- Install the door trim panel. Refer to Door Trim Panel Replacement
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the door latch fasteners to 10 N·m
(89 lb in).
Important: Check for the proper operation of the door handle before installing the water deflector and door trim panel.
