Did you perform the Cigar Lighter/Auxiliary Outlets Diagnostic System Check?

Go to Step 2

Operate the rear cigar lighter.

Does the rear cigar lighter operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Operate the front cigar lighter.

Does the front cigar lighter operate normally?

Go to Step 4

Go to Cigar Lighter Inoperative

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the rear cigar lighter harness connector.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Connect a test lamp between the supply voltage circuit of the rear cigar lighter and ground circuit of the rear cigar lighter.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 5

Connect a test lamp between the supply voltage circuit of the rear cigar lighter and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 7

Inspect for a poor connection / terminal tension at the rear cigar lighter. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 10

Repair the open or high resistance in the ground circuit of the rear cigar lighter. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 10

Repair the open or high resistance in the supply voltage circuit of the rear cigar lighter. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Replace the rear cigar lighter. Refer to Rear Cigar Lighter Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair
