Did you perform the Horns Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Disconnect the inoperative horn.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the supply voltage circuit of the inoperative horn and the ground circuit of the inoperative horn.
  3. Depress and hold the horn switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 4

Connect a test lamp between the supply voltage circuit of the inoperative horn and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 7

  1. Connect a 15 Amp fused jumper wire between positive terminal of the inoperative horn and battery positive voltage.
  2. Connect another jumper wire between ground terminal of the inoperative horn and a good ground.

Does the horn sound?

Go to Step 5

Inspect for a poor connection at the harness connector of the inoperative horn. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair an open or high resistance in the supply voltage circuit of the inoperative horn. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair an open or high resistance in the ground circuit of the inoperative horn. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Repair the high resistance in the supply voltage and ground circuits of the inoperative horn. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Replace the inoperative horn. Refer to Horn Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
