Did you review the heated seat operation and perform the necessary inspection?

Check HTDST LR Fuse (LH) or HTDST RR Fuse (RH) for an open.

Does the fuse test OK?

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. With a scan tool, observe the Heated Seat Switch parameter in the Door Module data list.
  3. Activate the suspect heated seat switch.

Does the scan tool indicate that the suspect switch is ON when pressed and OFF when not pressed?

  1. Disconnect the heated seat module harness connector C1.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the heated seat switch input circuit of the heated seat module and the battery positive voltage circuit of the heated seat module.
  3. Activate the heated seat switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Measure the voltage from the battery positive voltage circuit of the heated seat module to a good ground.

Does the voltage measure within the specified range?

9-16 V

Measure the voltage from the battery positive voltage circuit of the heated seat module to the ground circuit of the heated seat module.

Does the voltage measure within the specified range?

9-16 V

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Measure the voltage from the Ign 3 voltage circuit of the heated seat module to a good ground.

Does the voltage measure within the specified range?

9-16 V

  1. Disconnect the heated seat module harness connector C2.
  2. Measure the resistance from the heater control circuit of the heated seat cushion heating element to the controlled ground circuit of the heated seat cushion heating element.

Does the resistance measure less than the specified value?

10 ohms

  1. Disconnect the heated seat module harness connector C3.
  2. Measure the resistance from the heater control circuit of the heated seat back heating element to the controlled ground circuit of the heated seat back heating element.

Does the resistance measure less than the specified value?

10 ohms

Measure the resistance from the temperature sensor input circuit of the temperature sensor to the ground circuit of the temperature sensor.

Important: If the resistance is measured with the seat still warm, the resistance may vary outside of the specified range since the thermistor resistance varies with temperature.

Does the resistance measure within the specified value?

850 - 1150 ohms

  1. Turn OFF ignition.
  2. Disconnect the door module harness connector C1.
  3. Measure the resistance from the heated seat switch input circuit of the door module harness connector to the ground circuit of the door module harness connector.
  4. Activate the heated seat switch.

Does the resistance measure less than the specified value?

5 ohms

Test the heated seat switch input circuit between the door module and the heated seat switch for a high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
