Removal Procedure
Notice: When removing body panels, apply tape to corners of panel and adjacent
surfaces to help prevent paint damage.
- Remove the hood. Refer to
Hood Replacement
.
- Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Wheel Removal
in Tires and Wheels.
- Remove the splash shield. Refer to
Wheelhouse Splash Shield Replacement
.
- Remove the wheel house panel. Refer to
Wheelhouse Splash Shield Replacement
.
- Remove the fender lower
bracket bolts (1).
- Remove the fender lower bracket (4).
- On Chevrolet vehicles, remove the front side marker lamp. Refer
to
Park/Turn Signal/Side Marker Lamp Replacement
.
- Remove the front fascia from the fender. Refer to
Front Bumper Fascia Replacement
in Bumpers.
- Remove the fender insulator
retainers (2).
- Remove the fender insulators (1).
- Remove the fender center
bracket bolts (2).
- Remove the fender center bracket (1).
- Remove the hood hinge.

- Remove the fender retaining bolts (1).
- Remove the fender (3).
Installation Procedure
- Install the fender (3).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the fender
bolts (1).
Tighten
Tighten the fender retaining bolts to 7 N·m (62 lb in).
- Install the hood hinge.
- Install the fender center
bracket (1).
- Install the fender center bracket bolts (2) to the body.
Tighten
Tighten the fender center bracket bolts to 3 N·m (27 lb in).
- Install the fender center bracket bolts (2) to the fender (3).
Tighten
Tighten the fender center bracket bolts to 3 N·m (27 lb in).
- Install the fender insulator (1).
- Install the fender insulator retainers (2).
- Install the front fascia to the fender. Refer to
Front Bumper Fascia Replacement
in Bumpers.
- On Chevrolet vehicles, install the front side marker lamp. Refer
to
Park/Turn Signal/Side Marker Lamp Replacement
.
- Install the fender lower
bracket (4).
- Install the fender lower bracket bolt (1) to the radiator
side support.
Tighten
Tighten the fender lower bracket bolt to 3 N·m (27 lb in).
- Install the fender lower bracket bolt (1) to the fender.
Tighten
Tighten the fender lower bracket bolt to 8 N·m (66 lb in).
- Install the wheel house panel. Refer to
Wheelhouse Splash Shield Replacement

- Install the splash shield. Refer to
Wheelhouse Splash Shield Replacement
.
- Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Wheel Installation
in Tires and Wheels.
- Install the hood. Refer to
Hood Replacement
