Disassembly Procedure

Tools Required

    • J 41352 Modular Column Holding Fixture
    • J 23653 Lock Plate Compressor
    • J 42137 Lock Plate Compressor Adapter
  1. Remove the upper tilt head components. Refer to Steering Column Tilt Head - Off Vehicle .

  2. Object Number: 306277  Size: SH
  3. Remove the key alarm connector (1) from the lock module assembly (2).

  4. Object Number: 306278  Size: SH
  5. Remove the two tapping screws (2) from the ignition & key alarm switch assembly (1). Let the ignition & key alarm switch assembly (1) hang freely.

  6. Object Number: 306295  Size: SH
  7. Remove the three pan head tapping screws (2) from the lock module assembly (1).
  8. Remove the lock module assembly (1).

Assembly Procedure

Tools Required

    • J 41352 Modular Column Holding Fixture
    • J 23653 Lock Plate Compressor
    • J 42137 Lock Plate Compressor Adapter

  1. Install the lock module assembly (1).
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the three pan head tapping screws (2).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 3.5 N·m (31 lb in).

  5. Install the two tapping screws (2) into the ignition & key alarm switch assembly (1).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 3.5 N·m (31 lb in).

  7. Install the key alarm connector (1) into the lock module assembly (2).
  8. Install the upper tilt head components. Refer to Steering Column Tilt Head - Off Vehicle .
