Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 289910  Size: SH
  1. Remove the convertible top and place the top on a clean flat surface.
  2. Remove the fasteners attaching the right and left front side rail seals to the number one bow.

  3. Object Number: 289908  Size: SH
  4. Remove the seal compression panel from number one bow.
  5. Remove the staples attaching the top material to the number one bow.
  6. Remove the staples attaching the cable flap to the number one bow.
  7. Remove the screw attaching the cable to the number one bow.
  8. Fold the top material back.
  9. Remove the screw attaching the tension cable and feed the cable out between the side rail and roof bow.
  10. Remove the right and left screw attaching the top material to the number two bow. This is the fourth screw inboard from each side.

  12. Remove the protective pad from the ends of the number five bow weatherstrip.
  13. Remove the nuts from the ends of the number five bow weatherstrip.
  14. Remove the number five bow weatherstrip.
  15. Remove the staples attaching the top material to the number five bow.
  16. If the top material is to be reused mark the location of the material to the 5 bow as a guide for reassembly.

  18. Remove the top material from the number five bow (5).
  19. Drill out the rivets attaching the top material to the bottom of the rear side rails.
  20. Pull the top material from the rear side rail and from the front of the number five bow.

  22. Remove the rear side rail weatherstrip and retainer.
  23. Drill out the rivets attaching the top flap to the rear side rail.
  24. Drill out the rivet attaching the tension cable flag to the rear side rail.

  26. Remove the screws attaching the rear window support straps to the number four bow.
  27. Remove the top material.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 214592  Size: SH
  1. Position the top material over the roof bows.
  2. Attach the roof material to the number two bow (2) with two screws.
  3. Attach the rear window support straps to the number four bow.

  4. Object Number: 289910  Size: SH
  5. Route the tension cables and install the cables to the number one bow.
  6. Install the right and left screw attaching the top material to the number two bow.
  7. Staple the cable bracket flaps to the number one bow.
  8. Staple the top material to the number one bow.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  10. Install the seal compression panel to the number one bow.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the seal compression panel screws to 3 N·m (26 lb in).

  12. Position the cable flags to the rear of the side rails with the flag roll facing forward.
  13. Rivet the flags to the side rails.
  14. Assure both sides of the rivet are flat so the rivet will not cut the top material or interfere with the seating of the rear side rail weatherstrip retainer.

  15. Position the top flaps to the rear side rails and rivet in place.

  17. Wrap the top material over the edge of the number five bow and glue and staple the material to the bow.
  18. Glue the top material to the bottom of the rear side rails and to the front corners of the number five bow.

  19. Object Number: 289901  Size: SH
  20. Install the number five bow weatherstrip.
  21. Install the nuts to the five bow weatherstrip studs.
  22. Tighten
    Tighten the number five bow weatherstrip nuts to 3.5 N·m (31 lb in).

  23. Install the protective pad to the studs.

  25. Install the weatherstrip retainers and weatherstrips to the rear side rails. Folding Top Weatherstrip Retainer Replacement .
  26. Install the fasteners attaching the side rail weatherstrips to the number one bow.

  27. Object Number: 214136  Size: SH
  28. Install the top.
