Cylinder Head Replacement Right
Removal Procedure
- Drain the coolant system. Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
in Engine Cooling.
- Remove the valve rocker arm cover. Refer to
Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement
.
- Remove the right side exhaust manifold from the cylinder head.

.
- Remove the engine coolant air bleed pipe. Refer to
Vapor Vent Pipe Replacement
.
- Remove the right side cylinder head from the engine. Refer to Cylinder Head Removal (Right Side)
.
Installation Procedure
- Install the right side cylinder head to the engine. Refer to Cylinder Head Installation (Right Side)
.
- Install the engine coolant air bleed pipe. Refer to
Vapor Vent Pipe Replacement
.
- Install the right side exhaust manifold to the cylinder head.

Exhaust Manifold Replacement
.
- Install the valve rocker arm cover. Refer to
Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement
.
- Fill the cooling system. Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
in Engine Cooling.
- Inspect for any leaks.
Cylinder Head Replacement Left
Removal Procedure
Tools Required
J 25034-C Power Steering
Pump Pulley Remover
- Remove the valve rocker
arm cover. Refer to
Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement
.
- Remove the left side exhaust manifold from the cylinder head.

- Remove the intake manifold. Refer to
Intake Manifold Replacement
.
- Remove the engine coolant air bleed pipe. Refer to
Vapor Vent Pipe Replacement
.
- Remove the power steering pump pulley using J 25034-C
. Refer to
Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement
in Power Steering.
- Remove power steering
pump and bracket. Refer to
Power Steering Pump Replacement
in Power Steering.
- Reposition the power steering pump and reservoir assembly.
- Remove the ground wire bolt from the rear of the cylinder head.
- Remove the left side cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Removal (Left Side)
.
Installation Procedure
Tools Required
J 25033-C Power Steering
Pump Pulley Installer
- Install the left side cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Installation (Left Side)
.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the ground
wire and bolt to the rear of the head.
Tighten
Tighten the ground wire bolt to 32 N·m (24 lb ft).
Important: Install the upper accessory mounting bracket bolts loosely to the bracket
to insure proper alignment when tightening.
- Install the accessory mounting bracket to the engine.
- Install the lower accessory mounting bracket bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the accessory mounting bracket bolts to 50 N·m
(37 lb ft).
- Install the power steering
pump to the accessory mounting bracket.
- Install the power steering pump bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the pump mounting bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the power steering reservoir and bolts to the accessory
mounting bracket.
Tighten
Tighten the power steering reservoir bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
- Install the power steering
pump pulley to the pump using J 25033-C

- Install the exhaust manifold.

- Install the valve rocker arm cover. Refer to
Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement
.
- Install the engine coolant air bleed pipe. Refer to
Vapor Vent Pipe Replacement
.
- Install the intake manifold. Refer to
Intake Manifold Replacement
.
- Inspect for any leaks.
