Has the Starting/Charging Diagnostic System Check been performed?

Go to Step 2

Go to Diagnostic System Check - Engine Electrical

  1. Inspect the battery condition, state of charge, and terminal connections.
  2. Recharge the battery if necessary. Refer to Battery Charging .
  3. Load test the battery. Refer to Battery Inspection/Test .

Does the battery pass the load test?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 3

Replace the battery. Refer to Battery Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to Diagnostic System Check - Engine Electrical

  1. Start the engine and allow it to idle in park.
  2. Load the electrical system by turning on the highbeam headlamps and the heater blower to high.
  3. Connect a DMM to the vehicle battery and measure the voltage.

Is the voltage within specified values?

13.5-15.0 V

Is the CHARGE SYSTEM FAULT message displayed on the Driver Information Center?

Go to DTC P0562 System Voltage Low or DTC P0563 System Voltage High

Go to Step 6

Does the Instrument Panel Cluster volt gauge indicate abnormal voltage readings?

--

Go to Volt Gage Inaccurate or Inoperative

Go to Step 7

Replace the Instrument Panel Cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to Step 8

  1. Clear any DTCs which may have set.
  2. Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?

System OK
