Is the fuse open?

Test and repair circuit 383 for a short to ground.

  1. Remove the HTCHTRK fuse #26.
  2. Connect a test light from the fuse terminal B in the instrument panel electrical center to ground.
  3. Press the rear compartment lid release switch.

Does the test light flash?

  1. Replace the HTCHTRK relay #36 with a known good relay.
  2. With the test light connected as in the previous step, press the rear compartment lid release switch.

Does the test light flash?

Reinstall the relay and fuse, replacing the inoperative HTCHTRK relay #36.

Inspect the TONN REL #17 fuse for an open.

Is the fuse open?

  1. Disconnect the folding top compartment lid latch connector.
  2. Connect a test light between the connector terminals A and B.
  3. Press the folding top lid release switch.

Does the test light illuminate?

  1. Connect the test light from the folding top compartment lid latch release connector terminal A to ground.
  2. Press the folding top compartment lid release switch.

Does the test light illuminate?

  1. Remove the TONN REL micro relay #41.
  2. Connect a fused jumper wire from circuits 1340 to 2168 relay terminals in the instrument panel electrical center.

With the test light connected from the folding top compartment lid latch release connector terminal A to ground, does the test light illuminate?

  1. Connect a DMM from the circuit 2169 relay terminal in the instrument panel electrical center to ground.
  2. Measure resistance to ground of circuit 2169 while pressing the folding top compartment lid release switch.

Does the DMM indicate momentary continuity to ground when the switch is pressed?

Inspect and repair the short to ground in circuit 2168, if ok replace the folding top compartment lid latch. Refer to Folding Top Stowage Compartment Lid Latch Replacement .

Replace the folding top compartment lid latch. Refer to Folding Top Stowage Compartment Lid Latch Replacement .

Repair the open or high resistance in circuit 150.

Inspect and repair the open or high resistance in circuit 2169, if ok replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement and Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration .

  2. Connect a fused jumper wire from the switch connector terminal A to ground.

Does the scan tool indicate the switch is active, with the jumper wire connected?
