Fuel Filler Door Release Inoperative

  1. Disconnect the fuel filler door release switch connector.
  2. Connect a test light between terminal D of the release switch connector and ground.

Does the test light illuminate?

Inspect the F/TNKDR MiniFuse® #32 for an open.

Is the fuse open?

Go to Step 4

Replace the F/TNKDR MiniFuse® #32.

Does the F/TNKDR MiniFuse® #32 immediately open when installed?

Repair a short to ground in circuit 2840.

Is the repair complete?

Repair the open or high resistance in circuit 2840.

  1. Disconnect the fuel filler door lock actuator.
  2. Reconnect the fuel filler door release switch connector.
  3. Press the fuel filler door release button.

Does the F/TNKDR MiniFuse® #32 open when the button is pressed?

Repair a short to ground in circuit 79.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Disconnect the fuel filler door release switch connector.
  2. Connect a DMM across terminals D and E of the release switch.
  3. Press the release button.

Is continuity present across the fuel filler door release switch when the button is pressed?

  1. Reconnect the fuel filler door release switch connector.
  2. Disconnect the fuel filler door lock actuator connector.
  3. Connect a test light between the fuel filler door lock actuator connector terminal A and ground.
  4. Press the fuel filler door release button.

Does the test light illuminate?

Repair the open or high resistance in circuit 79.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Connect a DMM between terminal B of the fuel filler door lock actuator connector and ground.
  2. Measure circuit 150 for continuity to G302.

Is circuit 150 continuous to ground?

Go to Step 14

Repair the open or high resistance in circuit 150 from the fuel filler door lock actuator connector to G302.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 16

  1. Carefully inspect and repair any binding concerns with the fuel filler door.
  2. If OK, replace the fuel filler door lock actuator. Refer to Fuel Tank Filler Door Lock Actuator Replacement .

Replace the fuel filler door release switch. Refer to Fuel Tank Filler Door Lock Release Switch Replacement .
