Removal Procedure
- Remove the front seat. Refer to
Seat Replacement
.
- Remove the seat back recliner handle.
- Remove the outer trim panel from the seat cushion.
- Remove the J-retainers from the front seat cushion cover.
- Perform the following
procedure on the outboard seat back recliner:
5.1. | Remove the screw from the cable conduit (2). |
5.2. | Rotate the cable conduit downward 90 degrees. |
5.3. | Remove the cable end from the recliner (5). |
- Perform the following
procedure on the inboard seat back recliner:
6.1. | Unsnap the cable conduit (2) from the recliner (1). |
6.2. | Remove the cable end from the recliner. |
- Remove the cable from the seat frame.
Installation Procedure
- Install the cable to the
seat frame
- Perform the following procedure on the inboard seat back recliner:
2.1. | Install the cable end (2) to the recliner (1). |
2.2. | Snap the cable conduit to the recliner. |
- Perform the following
procedure on the outboard seat back recliner:
3.1. | Connect the cable end to the recliner (5). |
| Important: Do not apply excessive force in order to remove the slack. This action
may partially unlatch the inboard seat back recliner.

3.2. | Remove the cable slack by pulling rearward on the cable conduit. |
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
3.3. | Install the retaining screw (4) to the seat back recliner cable. |
Tighten
Tighten the screw to 4 N·m (35 lb in).
- Inspect the inboard seat back recliner after installing the cable
by pulling back and forth on the seat back recliner arm. Ensure that the
recliner arm is firmly in place.
- Inspect the seat back recliner for secure latching.
- Install the J-retainers on the front seat cushion cover.
- Install the outer trim panel to the seat cushion.
- Install the screws to the outer trim panel of the seat cushion.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 1 N·m (9 lb in).
- Install the seat back recliner handle.
- Install the screws to the seat back recliner handle.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 1 N·m (9 lb in).
- Install the front seat. Refer to

Removal Procedure
- Remove the front bucket
seat. Refer to
Seat Replacement
.
- Adjust the seat cushion cover and pad in order to access the seat
back recliner cable. Refer to
Front Seat Cushion Cover Replacement

- On the outer recliner perform the following steps:
3.1. | Remove the cable conduit bracket bolt (3). |
3.2. | Rotate the cable conduit 90 degrees. |
3.3. | Remove the cable end (2) from the recliner (1). |
- On the inner recliner
perform the following steps:
4.1. | Release the cable conduit (2) from the retainer on the
recliner (3). |
4.2. | Rotate the cable 90 degrees. |
4.3. | Remove the cable end (1) from the recliner (3). |
- Remove the seat back recliner cable from the front seat frame.
Installation Procedure
- Position the seat back recliner cable to the seat frame.
- On the inner recliner
perform the following steps:
2.1. | Install the cable end (1) to the recliner (3). |
2.2. | Rotate the cable 90 degrees. |
2.3. | Install the cable conduit (2) to the retainer on the recliner (3) |
- On the outer recliner
perform the following steps:
3.1. | Install the cable end (2) to the recliner (3). |
3.2. | Rotate the cable conduit upward 90 degrees. |
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.

3.3. | Install the cable conduit bracket bolt (3). |
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 4 N·m (35 lb in).
- Adjust the seat cushion cover and pad to a desired appearance.
