Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the instrument panel (IP). Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
  2. Drain the engine cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  3. Remove the clamps and the heater hoses from the heater core at the bulkhead.
  4. Remove the blower case-to-heater case air duct at the heater case.

  6. Remove the following components from the vehicle:
  7. • The 2 bolts (1)
    • The 2 nuts (2)
    • The heater case

  8. Remove the heater case retaining clips and the 2 screws (1) from the heater case.

  9. Object Number: 354286  Size: MH
  10. Separate the heater case halves (2,3).
  11. Disassemble the doors (1).
  12. Disassemble the linkages (4).

Installation Procedure

  1. Assemble the doors (1).
  2. Assemble the linkages (4).
  3. Position the heater case halves (2,3) together.

  4. Object Number: 354277  Size: SH
  5. Install the following components to the heater case.
  6. • The retaining clips
    • The 2 screws (1)

    Object Number: 354274  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the heater case to the vehicle.
  8. Secure the case with the 2 nuts (2) and the 2 bolts (1).

    Tighten
    Tighten the heater case mounting bolts and nuts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  9. Connect the blower case-to-heater case air duct at the heater case.
  10. Connect the heater hoses and clamps to the heater core.
  11. Refill the engine cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  12. Install the IP. Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
