Removal Procedure

Important: When installing a new condenser, add 20-30 mL (0.7-1 fl oz) of refrigerant oil to the refrigeration system.

  1. Disable the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in Restraints.
  2. Discharge and recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  3. Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  4. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  5. Remove the front bumper. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement in Bumpers.
  6. Disconnect the hood latch cable.
  7. Slide the hood latch cable out from the hood latch assembly.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  11. Connect the discharge hose (3) to the condenser (2). Secure the discharge hose with the 1 nut (1).
  12. Tighten
Tighten the discharge hose to the condenser nut to 9.8 N·m (86.74 lb in).
