Did you perform the HVAC Compressor Controls System Check?

Go to HVAC Compressor Controls System Check

1. Turn ignition off.
2. Disable the high voltage system. Refer to Disabling the High Voltage System in Battery Pack Controls.
3. Disconnect the A/C compressor high voltage cable from the accessory power control module (APCM).
4. Connect the A/C compressor high voltage cable to the P/S and A/C compressor electrical tester.

Important: The power steering test lead from the P/S and A/C compressor electrical tester must be connected to the test port on the tester or erroneous test results will occur.

Have you completed this portion of the Insulation Test setup?

Go to Step 2

1. Connect the test leads supplied with the digital insulation tester to the tester.

Important: Make sure that the black lead is connected to the EARTH connection and the orange lead is connected to the LINE connection. Failure to do so may lead to inaccurate results and/or tester malfunction.

2. Connect the black lead from the digital insulation tester to the body of the P/S and A/C compressor electrical tester.
3. Connect the Meggar banana plug adapter supplied with the P/S and A/C compressor electrical tester to the probe on the digital insulation tester.
4. Connect the RED banana plug on the P/S and A/C compressor electrical tester to the Meggar banana plug adapter.

Go to Step 3

1. Set the digital insulation tester to the 500 Volt scale.
2. Set the P/S and A/C compressor electrical tester to the PHASE FREQUENCY (Hz.) & MEGGAR TESTS position A.

Important: A red LED illuminated on the right upper corner of the digital insulation tester indicates high-voltage is present across the tool.

3. Lift the MEAS handle on the digital insulation tester.

Is the reading between the specified value?

5 Mohms-∞

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 7

1. Set the P/S and A/C compressor electrical tester to the PHASE FREQUENCY (Hz.) & MEGGAR TESTS position B.

Important: A red LED illuminated on the right upper corner of the digital insulation tester indicates high-voltage is present across the tool.

2. Lift the MEAS handle on the digital insulation tester.

Is the reading between the specified value?

5 Mohms-∞

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 7

1. Set the P/S and A/C compressor electrical tester to the PHASE FREQUENCY (Hz.) & MEGGAR TESTS position C.

Important: A red LED illuminated on the right upper corner of the digital insulation tester indicates high-voltage is present across the tool.

2. Lift the MEAS handle on the digital insulation tester.

Is the reading between the specified value?

5 Mohms-∞

Go to HVAC Compressor Motor Electrical Test

Go to Step 7

Replace A/C compressor.
