  1. Turn ignition off.
  2. Disable the high voltage system. Refer to Disabling the High Voltage System in Battery Pack Controls.
  3. Disconnect the A/C compressor high voltage cable from the accessory power control module (APCM).
  4. Connect the A/C compressor high voltage cable to the P/S and A/C compressor electrical tester.
  5. Important: The power steering test lead from the P/S and A/C compressor electrical tester must be connected to the test port on the tester or erroneous test results will occur.

Important:: When using a DMM on the ohmmeter scale, make sure that the circuit or component is disconnected from the power source. Failure to do so can cause damage to the meter.

  1. Set the DMM to the ohmmeter setting.
  2. Connect the P/S and A/C compressor electrical tester red and black banana plug to the digital multimeter.
  3. Set the P/S and A/C compressor electrical tester to the WINDING RESISTANCE & AC VOLTAGE TEST A-B position.

Is the resistance within the specified value?

0.8-2.0ohms

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 7

4

Set the P/S and A/C compressor electrical tester to the WINDING RESISTANCE & AC VOLTAGE TEST B-C position.

Is the resistance within the specified value?

0.8-2.0ohms

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 7

5

Set the P/S and A/C compressor electrical tester to the WINDING RESISTANCE & AC VOLTAGE TEST A-C position.

Is the resistance within the specified value?

0.8-2.0ohms

  1. Connect the A/C compressor lead from the P/S and A/C compressor electrical tester to the accessory power control module (APCM) so that the tester is in-line between the A/C compressor and the APM.
  2. Set the digital multimeter to the A/C scale.
  3. Enable the high voltage system. Refer to Enabling the High Voltage System in Battery Pack Controls.
  4. Connect a scan tool to the vehicle.
  5. Turn the ignition on and clear any battery pack control module (BPCM) DTC's.
  6. Select MAX A/C and place the blower switch on high.
  7. Important:: Allow the system to stabilize (approximately 5 minutes) before taking any readings.

  8. Measure the A/C voltage at WINDING RESISTANCE AND AC VOLTAGE TEST A-B, B-C, and A-C positions.

Are all within 10 volts of each other?
