Was the Charging System Check performed?

  1. Disconnect the generator connector.
  2. Connect a fused jumper from the generator connector terminal 2 to ground.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

Does the charge indicator light?

--

Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect the generator connector.
  2. Test for voltage at the generator connector terminal 3.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

Is battery voltage present?

--

Go to Step 4

Remove the generator and replace the IC regulator. Refer to Generator Replacement and Generator Overhaul .

Is the repair complete?

Go to Charging System Check

  1. Inspect the charge indicator bulb and replace as necessary.
  2. Connect a fused jumper between the instrument cluster connector 1 terminal 2 and ground.

Does the charge indicator light?

Go to Step 6

Repair the open in the WHT/RED wire between the instrument cluster connector 1 terminal 1 and the generator. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Test for an open in the BLK/WHT wire between the instrument cluster connector 1 terminal 2 and fuse block 2.

Is an open present?

Go to Step 10

Inspect the instrument cluster printed circuit for cracks and bad connections. Repair or replace as necessary.

Repair the open in the BLK/WHT wire between the generator and fuse block 2. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
