Inspect the for the following conditions:

  1. Proper battery installation.
  2. Proper battery terminal installation.
  3. Proper battery cable installation.
  4. Clean and tight ground connections.
  5. Excessive battery terminal corrosion.
  6. Cracking or other damage.
  7. Correct battery voltage.
  8. The battery hydrometer for a green dot.
  9. The generator wiring for damage or poor connections.
  10. The generator mounting bolts for proper torque.
  11. The generator drive belt for proper installation.
    • The battery is properly installed.
    • The battery terminals are properly installed.
    • The battery cables are properly installed.
    • The ground connections are clean and tight.
    • The battery terminals are clean and tight.
    • The battery is not physically damaged.
    • Battery voltage is approximate 11.5-13.0 volts.
    • The battery hydrometer displays a green dot.
    • the wiring is in serviceable condition.
    •  Battery Load Test .
    •  Battery Charging .
    • Clean, tighten or repair the wiring and connections as necessary. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
    •  Battery Check .
    •  Battery Terminal Check .
    •  Generator Replacement .
    •  Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical.

Turn the ignition switch to the key ON engine OFF position

The charge indicator lamp lights.

Start the engine

The charge indicator lamp goes out after the engine starts.
