Caution: To help avoid personal injury from unrepaired crash damage to a restraint
system, perform the seat belt check for each seat belt system. Replace the
seat belt system if there is any doubt about the condition of system components.
- Inspect all seat belt anchor bolts to verify that they are secure.
- Inspect the seat belt buckle, making sure it locks and unlocks
easily.
- After buckling the seat belt, tug sharply on the belt, checking
that the buckle remains locked.
- Fully extend the seat belt to make sure there are no twists or
tears in it.
- Allow the seat belt to fully retract to make sure it does so easily.
- Remove the retractor assembly.
- Tilt the retractor slowly.
- Verify that the belt can
be pulled out of the retractor (1) at an inclination of 15 degrees or less
and that it cannot be pulled out at over 45 degrees of inclination.
- If a problem is found, replace the retractor assembly.
