Did you perform the Radio/Audio System Check?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Disconnect the suspect speaker connector.
  3. Connect a digital multimeter across the terminals of the suspect speaker.
  4. Measure the resistance.

Is the resistance within the specified range?

4-10 ohms

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 3

Replace the speaker.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Disconnect the radio connector.
  2. Connect a digital multimeter from the speaker connector cavity 1 to ground.

Is the resistance equal to the specified value?

Infinite

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 5

Repair the short to ground in the suspect wire.

Is the repair complete?

Connect a digital multimeter from the speaker connector cavity 2 to ground.

Is the resistance equal to the specified value?

Infinite

Go to Step 8

Repair the short to ground in the suspect wire.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Reconnect the speaker.
  2. Connect a digital multimeter across the radio connector cavities of the suspect speaker.

Is the resistance within the specified range?

4-15 ohms

Go to Step 9

Go to Step 10

  1. Inspect for poor connections at the radio or the speaker.
  2. If the connections are OK, remove the radio for repair.

Is the repair complete?

Inspect for poor connections at the following components:

  1. The speaker
  2. The in-line connectors
  3. The open in the speaker feed circuits.
