A malfunction in the cruise control system is the result
of either the electrical components or the mechanical components. Isolate
the electrical components or the mechanical components prior to a diagnosis.
Begin a diagnosis with the simplest operation. End a diagnosis with the
most difficult operation.
Perform the following actions when performing a mechanical inspection:
• | Ensure that the cruise control cable is connected to the following
components: |
- | The accelerator lever assembly |
• | Ensure that the following components move freely: |
- | The cruise control cable |
• | Inspect the cruise control actuator assembly for any bare, broken,
or disconnected wires. |
If no abnormalities are found in the mechanical inspection, and the
cruise control electrical system is inoperative, refer to
Cruise Control System Check
