Was the Defogger System Check Performed?

Turn the ignition switch to ON.

Press the rear defogger switch to ON.

Does the indicator lamp light?

--

Go to Step 6

  1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
  2. disconnect the rear defogger switch connector.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
  4. Connect a J 35616-200 between cavity 1 of the rear defogger switch connector and ground.

Did the test lamp light?

--

Go to Step 4

Replace the Rear Defogger Switch. Refer to Rear Window Defogger Switch Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to Defogger System Check

Repair the open in the YEL/GRN wire between cavity 1 of the Rear Defogger Switch and the REAR DEFG Fuse located in Fuse Block 2. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
  2. Disconnect the RED/WHT connector to the rear defogger.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
  4. Press the rear defogger switch to ON.
  5. Connect a J 35616-200 between the RED/WHT cavity of the rear defogger connector and ground.

Did the test lamp light?

--

Go to Step 7

  1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
  2. Disconnect the BLK wire connector from the rear defogger.
  3. Using a J 39200 , test for continuity between the BLK wire connector of the rear defogger and ground .

Is there continuity?

--

Go to Step 9

Go to Step 10

Repair the open RED/WHT wire between the rear defogger connector and cavity 2 of the rear defogger switch. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Repair the rear defogger. Refer to Gridline Repair.

Is the repair complete?

Repair the open in the BLK wire connector of the rear defogger and ground G400. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
