Accelerator Controls Cable

1. Remove the accelerator cable (1) from accelerator pedal.
2. Remove the accelerator cable retainer.
3. Squeeze the accelerator cable cover tangs and push cable through dash panel (bulkhead).



4. Remove the accelerator cable (1) from accelerator cable bracket and throttle body lever.

Notice: In order to prevent possible interference and damage, flexible components (hoses, wires, conduits, etc.) must not be routed within 50 mm (2 in) of moving parts, unless the routing is positively controlled.

1. Install the accelerator cable at throttle body lever and accelerator cable bracket.

Important: Accelerator cable must be routed through groove in throttle body lever and seated securely.




2. Route the accelerator cable under brake master cylinder and through dash.
3. Secure the retainer at dash.
4. Secure the cable at accelerator pedal.

Important: Check for complete throttle opening and closing positions by operating accelerator pedal. Also check for poor carpet fit under the accelerator pedal. Throttle should operate freely without bind between full closed and wide open throttle.

Accelerator Controls Pedal

1. Remove the accelerator cable (1) from accelerator pedal.
2. Remove the pedal clip retainer.
3. Remove the washer (3).
4. Remove the bushings.
5. Remove the accelerator pedal assembly (2).

Important: The mounting surface between support and dash panel must be free of insulation. The carpet and padding in the pedal area must be positioned to lay flat and be free of wrinkles and bunches.

1. Install the accelerator pedal assembly (2).
2. Install the pedal clip retainer.
3. Install the bushings.
4. Install the washer (3).

Important: Check for complete throttle opening and closing positions by operating accelerator pedal. Also check for poor carpet fit under the accelerator pedal. Throttle should operate freely without bind between full closed and wide open throttle.

5. Install the accelerator cable on accelerator pedal (1).

Accelerator Controls Bracket

1. Remove the fuel feed (2) and return (3) fuel pipes from the bracket.



2. Remove the transaxle shift cable from the clip.



3. Remove the cruise control cable from the bracket. Refer to Cruise Control Cable Replacement.
4. Remove the accelerator cable from the bracket. Refer to Accelerator Controls .
5. Remove the bolts from the accelerator cable bracket.

1. Install the accelerator cable bracket.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 12 N·m (9 lb ft).

2. Install the accelerator cable to the bracket. Refer to Accelerator Controls .
3. Install the cruise control cable to the bracket. Refer to Cruise Control Cable Replacement.



4. Install the fuel feed (2) and return fuel (3) pipes.



5. Install the transaxle shift cable clip.
