Removal Procedure

Notice: The Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV) must be removed before replacing the valve block.

Notice: A clean work area is needed to prevent contamination of the BPMV and its internal components.

  1. Remove the BPMV. Refer to Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Replacement .
  2. Clean the exterior of the BPMV.
  3. Remove the BPMV valve block to pump attaching bolts.
  4. Remove the BPMV valve block from the pump and motor assembly.

Installation Procedure

Important: Improper installation or inversion of the metal gasket may introduce extremely high pressures during the autobleed procedure. This high pressure may cause severe damage to various components on the brake system.

Ensure that the locator tab position is correct so that none of the internal ports between the pump and the valve block assembly are blocked.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the valve block bolts.
  2. Tighten
Tighten the BPMV valve block to pump bolts to 29 N·m (21.4 lb ft).

  3. Install the metal gasket.
  4. Install the BPMV valve block to the pump and motor assembly.
  5. Install the attaching bolts.
  6. Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 29 N·m(21.4 lb ft).

  7. Install the BPMV. Refer to Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Replacement .
