Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement in Seats.
  2. Remove the seat back. Refer to Rear Seat Back Replacement in Seats.
  3. Remove the sail panels. Refer to Sail Panel Replacement .

  4. Object Number: 422591  Size: SH
  5. Remove the shelf panel retainers (1) at the front of the rear window trim panel.
  6. If equipped with the (U97) speaker system, remove the four screws at the front of the shelf panel.
  7. Lift up the front of the panel and disconnect the (CHMSL) center high mounted stop lamp connector.
  8. Disconnect the speaker electrical harness and connectors.
  9. Remove the remote control door lock receiver. Refer to Remote Control Door Lock Receiver Replacement in Keyless Entry.
  10. Remove the rear window trim panel by pulling the panel upward and away from the rear window.

Installation Procedure

  1. Transfer the speakers to the new shelf trim panel.

  2. Object Number: 422591  Size: SH
  3. Install the rear shelf trim panel to the rear window.
  4. Connect the (CHMSL) center high mounted stop lamp connector.
  5. Connect the electrical harness and connectors to the speakers.
  6. Install the remote control door lock receiver. Refer to Remote Control Door Lock Receiver Replacement in Keyless Entry.
  7. Install the push in retainers at the front of the shelf panel.
  8. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  9. Install the 4 screws with the (U97) speaker system to the shelf panel.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the four screws to 1.8 N·m (16 lb in).

  11. Install the sail panels. Refer to Sail Panel Replacement .
  12. Install the seat back. Refer to Rear Seat Back Replacement in Seats.
  13. Install the seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement in Seats.
