Removal Procedure
- Remove the valve rocker arm covers. Refer to

- Remove the intake manifold. Refer to
Intake Manifold Replacement
and
Intake Manifold Replacement

- Remove the rocker arm, pedestal, bearings and retainer. Refer
to
Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement
.
Important: Ensure that all valve train parts are kept in order so that they can
be reinstalled in their original locations and with the same mating surfaces
as when removed.
- Remove the pushrods.
- Remove the valve lifter guide bolts.
- Remove the valve lifter guide.
- Remove the valve lifters.
- Clean all gasket surfaces with degreaser.
- Clean the valve train parts.
- Inspect the valve lifters for wear.
- Inspect the cam lobes for wear.
Installation Procedure
- Dip the valve lifters in prelube engine oil before installation.
- Install the valve lifters.
- Install the valve lifter guides.
- Install the valve lifter guide bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the pushrods.
- Install the rocker arms and pedestals. Refer to

- Install the intake manifold. Refer to

- Install the valve rocker arm covers. Refer to
