Removal Procedure

Tools Required

J 38778 Door Trim Pad and Garnish Clip Remover

  1. Remove the rear door power window/power door lock switch. Refer to Rear Side Door Window Switch Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 164587  Size: SH
  3. Remove the door handle bezel.
  4. Remove the door trim panel screw located behind the door handle bezel.

  5. Remove the door trim panel screws located by the armrest handle.
  6. Remove the door trim panel using J 38778 .
  7. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  8. Remove the door trim panel from the door.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 164587  Size: SH

    Important: Discard the old door trim panel retainers and replace with new retainers before installing the trim panel.

  1. Install new trim panel retainers to the rear door trim panel.
  2. Connect the electrical connectors.
  3. Align the door trim panel retainers to the door.
  4. Press the door trim panel at the retainer locations until the retainers are fully seated.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the trim panel screws.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the door trim panel screws to 2 N·m(18 lb in).

  8. Install the door handle bezel.
  9. Install the power window/power door lock switch. Refer to Rear Side Door Window Switch Replacement .
