Removal Procedure
- Remove the rear door inner trim panel. Refer to

- Remove the water deflector. Refer to
Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement
.
- Remove the outside handle rod from the lock.
Cut the lock rod clip with a pair of side cutters.
Unscrew and discard the remainder of the clip from the rod.
- Remove the bolts mounting the door handle.
- Remove the handle rod
from the handle.
- Remove the outside door handle from the rear door.
Installation Procedure
- Install a new lock rod clip to the lock.
- Install the outside door handle, with the lock rod attached, to
the rear door.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the bolts mounting the handle to the door.
Tighten
Tighten the outside door handle bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Install the handle rod to the handle.
- Position the lock rod
in the lock clip eliminating all outside handle free play.
- Snap the clip closed over threaded part of the outside door handle
rod.
- Install the water deflector. Refer to

- Install the trim panel. Refer to
Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement
