Does the rear compartment release from the rear compartment release switch and not from the keyless entry transmitter?

  1. Place the vehicle in the PARK position.
  2. Operate the rear compartment lid release switch.

Does the rear compartment lid release?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Disconnect the rear compartment lid release relay.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the battery positive voltage circuit of the rear compartment lid release relay and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 5

  1. Connect a test lamp between the battery positive voltage circuit of the rear compartment lid release relay and the control circuit of the rear compartment lid release switch.
  2. Operate the rear compartment lid release switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Reconnect the rear compartment lid release relay.
  2. Disconnect the rear compartment lid release switch.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the control circuit of the rear compartment lid release switch and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Connect a test lamp between the control circuit of the rear compartment lid release switch and the ground circuit of the rear compartment lid release switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Momentarily connect a fused jumper between battery positive voltage and the control circuit of the rear compartment lid release actuator.

Did the rear compartment lid release actuator operate?

  1. Disconnect the rear compartment lid release actuator.
  2. Connect a fused jumper across the switch side of the rear compartment lid relay fuse block.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the control circuit of the rear compartment lid release actuator and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Connect a test lamp between the control circuit of the rear compartment lid release actuator and the ground circuit of the rear compartment lid release actuator.

Repair the open or high resistance in the battery positive voltage circuit of the rear compartment lid release relay. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
