Did you perform the System Check?

Go to Step 2

Go to Radio/Audio System Check

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  2. Disconnect the speaker connector.
  3. Use a J 39200 digital multimeter in order to measure the resistance of the speaker.

Is the resistance within the specified range?

4-15 ohms

Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect the radio connector.
  2. Connect a J 39200 digital multimeter from speaker connector cavity 2 to ground.
  3. Measure the resistance.

Is the resistance equal to the specified value?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 6

Replace the speaker. Refer to Radio Front Speaker Replacement or to Radio Rear Speaker Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Go to Radio/Audio System Check

  1. Connect a J 39200 digital multimeter from the speaker connector cavity 1 to ground.
  2. Measure the resistance.

Is the resistance equal to the specified value?

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 8

Repair a short to ground in the speaker feed circuit.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Radio/Audio System Check

  1. Reconnect the speaker connector.
  2. Use a J 39200 digital multimeter in order to measure the resistance at the radio connector of the speaker feed circuits.

Is the resistance within the specified range?

4-15 ohms

Go to Step 9

Go to Step 10

Repair a short to ground in the speaker feed circuit.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Inspect for poor connections at the radio and at the speaker.
  2. If the connections are OK, remove the radio for repair. Refer to Radio Replacement .

  1. Inspect for poor connections at the speaker or at the in-line connectors.
  2. Repair the open or the high resistance in speaker feed circuits, as necessary.
