For 1990-2009 cars only
Removal Procedure
- Turn OFF the ignition.
- Remove the left instrument panel sound insulator. Refer to Rear Compartment Trim Panel Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and console.
- Disconnect the accelerator cable (5) from the accelerator pedal (1).
- Squeeze the accelerator cable cover tangs and push the accelerator cable through the bulkhead.
- Remove the accelerator cable shield, if equipped.
- Disconnect the accelerator cable from the retaining clip.
- Disconnect the accelerator cable from the throttle body lever.
- Disconnect the accelerator cable from the accelerator cable bracket.
- Remove the accelerator cable from vehicle noting cable routing.
Installation
- Install accelerator cable using the routing noted during removal
- Install the snap retainer through the bulkhead.
- Connect the accelerator cable (5) in the slot in the accelerator pedal lever (1).
- Seat the snap retainer in the accelerator pedal lever.
- Connect the accelerator cable to the throttle body lever.
- Connect the accelerator cable to the accelerator cable bracket.
- Connect the accelerator cable into the retaining clip.
- Reinstall the accelerator cable shield, if equipped.
- Inspect for complete throttle opening and closing positions by operating the accelerator pedal. Also inspect for poor carpet fit under the accelerator pedal.
- Inspect the throttle should operate freely, without binding, between full closed and wide open throttle.
- Reinstall the left instrument panel sound insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
Notice: Do not route flexible components (hoses, wires, conduits, etc.) within 50 mm (2 in) of moving parts unless flexible components can be securely fastened. This is necessary in order to prevent possible interference and damage to the component.
