Did you perform the Lighting Systems Diagnostic System Check?

Place the rear view mirror lamp switch in the ON position.

Does the rear view mirror lamp operate properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Does the courtesy lamp function of the inoperative rear view mirror lamp operate properly?

Go to Step 4

Go to Courtesy Lamps Inoperative

  1. Disconnect the rear view mirror switch.
  2. Using a test lamp connected to battery positive voltage, probe the ground circuit of the rear view mirror lamp switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 6

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the headlamp dimmer switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 8

Repair an open or high resistance in the ground circuit of the rear view mirror lamp switches. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the rear view mirror. Refer to Inside Rearview Mirror Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
